David Coale on KDFW FOX 4 Good Day to Discuss Federal Court Ruling on Refugees

A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s executive order that would allow states to opt out of resettling refugees. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had already announced the state would not accept new refugees this year. LPHS’s David Coale explains the executive order and the court ruling.

“But what the court said in this ruling is it’s not his place to say,” said Coale. “Congress has exclusive authority over immigration. It’s a national issue as national defense or foreign policy, and if Texas feels like it’s shouldering an unshared burden the remedy is to go to the president, go to the Congress and say we got to change this.”
