David Coale Discusses Trump Lawsuit Against Social Media Companies

Former President Trump filed a lawsuit against tech companies, claiming his removal from those platforms violated his First Amendment rights. LPHS constitutional law attorney David Coale explains the lawsuit to KLIF News & Information in the Morning. “If you pull out your pocket Constitution and look at the First Amendment, the first order of it is Congress…and it lists a bunch of stuff that Congress shall not do and then the 14th amendment applies that to the state legislatures. Facebook is not Congress; Twitter is not Congress. They are private entities, and the First Amendment, 14th Amendment constrains only the government. These are private companies and they are regulated in a different way. It’s just not relevant to them.”
